I didn't see or photograph a plaque, as we shot for the decrepit structures first, then had to leave in a hurry from Polizei. For a print: http://www.opacity.us/about/contact/

Dylan, my grandfather was the engineer on this coal mine. His name was John Karcz. ( A German citizen who had relocated to Belgium to work on this site. His family was evacuated during the Battle of the Bulge). Did you happen to photograph the plaque which is on this site? My mother, John's daughter, visited a few years ago and took a few photographs to show us grandchildren. We had no idea that our grandfather was part of this amazing work. Would you be willing to share any of your photos with my family? I would love to frame one for my home. If you have any further information on this site, would you please share it with me? Thank you so much for posting your beautiful art, it has been very inspirational to me as I seek to put together pieces of my family heritage.

Such a weird but cool angle, I couldn't tell if you were looking up, down or ahead in this picture! But then I read the paragraph under the photo...
Hey I actually live just about 15 miles from this building. I was always fascinated by the old mines of Limburg. By the way the hills aren't natural: they are heaps of garbage that came out of the mine until they were closed (Zolder was the last in 1992). Nowadays they are al green and popular for a nice one hour climb for a terrific view of the surrounding towns.

Love your site!
