145 Comments for Hartford Drive-In

Being British & born in 1978 meant that I never heard of drive-ins until seeing re-runs of The Flintstones in the mid 1980s.
Pure Googie, atomic-age style. I love these old neons (not too many on this side of the Pond though!)

That sounds like a really neat job Motts! I'm just no good at any of the web, html type stuff...so i definitely admire people who can! Yet another great set! Two thumbs way up a real Box Office Smash!

People should really restore some of these old theatre's...especially since we have so much nicer cars now. What better way to show em off! LOL

Oh Good! Comments are back. For a while there it wouldn't let me comment. I was getting a bit upset! I've never been to a drive in...it must have been really fun back in the day!

There's another one in Dayville(?), CT. Just the screen though.

Been a long time lurker now first time poster. We have three in my area (central ohio). One is now a junk yard w/ the screen still standing. The second is a quarter of a mile where I work. It has dual screens though much like this place. The last place is still in operation, and proves to still be pretty popular. Last movie I seen there was "Ghost Busters".
Nice shot, Motts. Very surreal! There's an abandoned drive-in around here, actually. Now I'm tempted to go and check it out. =)

Anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute or two. I use a Hoya R72, but this photo isn't true infrared, it was processed with a black and white filter.
