That is a weak spot with the big hole for the knob leaving a small portion of the wood intact to hold. The metal plate reinforces this wood and the size of it + the number of screws spreads the load evenly . If there were fewer screws the plate might bend between the screws leading to the wood giving out under enough force.
Another great perspective shot. Not exactly wheelchair-accessible. Thanks Mr. Motts for another great gallery. I look forward to the next.
Love the detail on the triangular part, and that the text and dates are still clear.
What is that blue thing on the ground between the two right hand pillars?
I agree with Tootuncommon - wonderful burst of colour amongs the drab.
Nice lighting. Don't look like very comfortable, or strong, beds.
This is what I need to let my cats outside yet keep them close to home.
That's nice (colours). I wonder if this was painted by a patient?
I love that they took the time to put the round circle thingy in the bottom row of the barriers.
If that little tiny bright white light in the very center of the shot is a door, then this hallway is very very long.
Beautiful shot, love the perspective. Mr. Motts is excellent at perspective shots.
I am wondering the same thing, LucieLou.
Odd they'd put the name of the facility - D J - for DeJarnette presumably - on the door when you'd be standing in the facility reading the door, and hopefully already knew where you were.
Must have been arts and crafts day.
Play room - then one can assume little children were staying in this sanitarium? How sad.
