i currently work for one of these institutions run by NY state & although it may have been a horrid place up into th early 80's all of the ny state run institutions now put the clients before anyone or any thing which is good BUT the are dangerous jobs in alot of cases. this place was for developmentally challenged people whom if they went off only had the mental capacity of children so they did not understand that they could hurt or even kill someone. i know this because many of my family members worked at letchworth. the institution i work in is for metally ill & on a daily basis i deal with my clients with the up most respcet & always treat them as i would want to be treated BUT i never forget that they are ill & some have killed before so i am always watching over my shoulder.

Dr. Jervis opened a clinic on Long Island. Some of the Letchworth staff work there. I am currently in the field in upstate NY and work with individuals who lived at Letchworth.
we went and explored every inch of this place today. Make ur way into the powerhouse, make your way up to the roof, its awsome. And check out the garbage hoppers too (the half=pipe lookin things). The other buildings are full of cool stuff. Check it out, watch for glass in the plumbing section of the powerhouse complex. And yes, all the fire extinguishers are empty, so dont waste your time, lol. PEace.

I use to work there years ago, back in the 80's. There are underground tunnels that link alot of the buildings. I went and visited when I was home last. Its Creepy. Good place for a horror movie.
