This puts me in mind of an old B&W movie I saw. I think it was called THE SNAKE PIT. It was about a sane woman who was put in an asylum. It's really, really old. It was made for the sole purpose of exposing the deploriable conditions of asylums back in the late 1800's-early 1900's. I haven't thought of that movie in a long time.
