I work for a construction company here in Florida which builds some very ornate homes. I cant help but think about the fact that in this age where we can build a house in 3 months that will need repair work done with in 10 years, these buildings, though in advance states of decay, still for the most part retain their former glory. The Iron work, the plaster, the masonry....all so intracate. I loved the shot of the fire escape...the scroll work looked like delicate lace. I love your work Motts!

Wouldnt it be nice (and much more legal) if you contacted the owner of the property to see about buying something you wanted?

true you might not always get what you want with this approach. But it does keep one from commiting theft. As much as many of us would like to preserve history, I don't think it rationalizes theft to do so.

But I am sure (without a doubt) that even the beloved, pig roasting president of the fan club has a number of fans you can classify as..er..ill acquired.

I just think these places should be left alone for a variety of reasons. Taking pictures is great. Anything else is pretty much theft.

This is crazy, the first shots looked like the place was relatively in good condition. Then these pictures pop up. What a contrast!

I was thinking the same thing about the fall out shelter sign...
and wondering what kind of horror stories these walls would tell us if they could talk. these photos really make you think.
