i've lived around bennett for most of my life. i distinctly remember on my first day of kindergarten i didnt know where to get off the bus so i rode all the way to the bus garage. on my way there we passed bennett and i was scared out of my mind. years later i thought it was just a dream. so, yes, i was one of those lucky kids who is growing up by it (im still a kid at 14 right?)

so, now i live within walking distance of bennett and i've always wanted to explore it, but i hear theyre tearing it down :( its such a shame.

I visited Halcyon Hall a few days ago and it seemed curiously stronger. This is a heroic structure, indeed. It is determined to survive.

the state is not allowed to remove any of the furniture.
We were on vacation and drove past by chance on Oct 14th 2009. We just had to stop and take pictures of the outside from the road. There were three vultures perched on the chimneys and we took close up pics of them with the zoom. Just a fantastic sight. I sent the pics to my friends as a real life spooky Halloween greeting.

I attended Bennett in the mid 70s...I'm shocked that it's decayed so rapidly.
Halcyon Hall was the most beautiful building- it's one of the reasons I chose to go to Bennett. I'm glad to hear it's still standing and hope someone, somehow will find a way to restore it.
