Just thought i would have a quiet rum and see how you fellas are getting on.Seen as Bennett is still standing that must be a good reason to indulge in one of lifes pleasures.Sure beats paying the powers that be taxes. At least we get something out of it.Pat i know from previous comments that you like Natures Natural Necture, so dont let me hold you back. And Wanderer hows things with you?Wanted to know mate when you went over to the school did you venture into the structure and get some good pictures for your collection. You were saying that trees blocked the outside pictures. The stone work at the base of the building is a good touch of craftmanship, and it looks really cool. And Pat,what sort of friend sells you a Haunted TV that wakes you up at times Normal people sleep?Friends have your best at heart unless they want to take the pi**, or just wanted to have a laugh at someone else. And as for summer ,we havnt got to that yet aye.But i hope the people that have it enjoy it to the max.

I can't decide if I love or hate the architecture of this building. I see elements of beauty, but overall it is a rather scary looking building. A very intriguing place!

I wonder what they used this room for originally?

who was it who said 'give em hell Harry' - right on PR man
hello wanderer, staxman, and all. I agree the whole underground
haunt buster thing has gone wildly pop and mainstream, on the
TV they have Celebrity Ghost Sightings. The one episode i
managed to giggle my way through featured a haunted music studio
with the erstwhile drummer from Guns & Roses. The West Hollywood
Cocaine Ghosts of Matt Sorum. ok....whatever...

But unlike so many other things that get trended out to death, i think
people's attraction to ghostly phenomena, real, imagined, or
manufactured, is still a very cool, pure, and ingrained imperative,
especially for young people. The crucial aspect of it all for me is the
central notion of PLACE in the concept of haunting. It is haunted
Houses, Haunted Castles, and the like, that predominate people's
ruminations and explorations of the subject, which would otherwise
be intangibly boring to anyone so interested.

It is LOCATION and a sense of PLACE then, that form a large part
of people's obsession with ghosts. And in an even Meta-Metaphorical
way, the concept of a ghost, tied to a location even after death,
conflicted about it's place between life and death, is itself illustrative
of the psychological underpinnings of our collective ideas about the
supernatural.

Or maybe I'm full of %^&, I don't know!

The popular identification with the subject inevitably intersects with
buildings and history, and so that is a real great thing i think. I don't
really know what i believe. I am a wildly skeptical person [ya think?
lol!] but I have a very open mind about metaphysics, the afterlife etc.

But Halcyon Hall haunted? Maybe.

Il;l tell you what, if it's haunted, IT'S HAUNTED BY THE F#$%^-ING
COPS, So STAY THe hell OUT of There KiDS!!!!

Actually I have a haunted television, Totally true. My friend sold it to me,
he got it used. My television turns on by itself. That;s right. But only
when I have had on Turner Classic Movies, or the History Channel,
or the Military Channel. Nevermind that's about the only thing I probably watch anyway, [besides Celebrity Ghost Stories, of course!!!] but
usually it is some noir black and white thing, and always between three and four AM. It is sometimes disconcerting to be awakened to
a Raymond Chandler style argument out in my living room, ready to get freakin whacked
out by Humphry Bogart in my home for no reason at all at four in
the morning,but,,,. yeah....
And I'm being funny and all, but I am totally serious. this TV is like
some 1940's Edward Hopper-esque window from the WWII era.
I have changed the box, setup, etc and this thing is crazy, for real.
But I don't really watch much TV, so.....

So objects can be haunted, too?
Haunted is technically an adjective, but to me is more about the
nouns: people, places, things.
ok, i have to go watch some TV, heh heh......have a great summer,
all.....
Although this photo is awesome as all of them are, I'm more amazed that people are still leaving comments seven years after it was first posted! The sign of pure genuis, Mr. Motts!!

To my Mates in the states how are things going. So things havnt changed much. Our building is so slowly falling apart and all they could give us was a chain fence to keep the people that get a dare from there pairs that they need to break in to the past that they think is haunted. Why do they do that.Any thing old they think have spirits in it.Prove it mate.Give us all on utube something out of the ordinary to watch and make sure that it is worth watching because the coverage of which i have seen just is not doing the structures of which they are filmed justice.Kids that want to make a name for themselves as Ghostbusters have just a bit of what it takes to make a name for themselves.U go guys the only reason i have to say this comment is because im really jealous.Hey over here in the big and did i say big as The Big and i say MASSIVE New Zealand we dont get the history of which you have GO Hard OW.Wanderer i say how is it all going for you mate, and to P R the man with the pulse and so PASSIONATE about Bennett.Someone has to be aye.You have my vote which ever is best for the history of such a awesome building.FOR UNITED WE STAND.

Former Resident, that's funny they told you girls to stay away from Timothy Leary's house! Indeed, no place for a proper young lady, he had the real halcyon hall!
as if on command- the lawn has been cut...
I was wondering if anyone with extensive knowledge of this place could confirm whether it had a link to nuns or a nunnery at some point. Also, a link to the McLaren and Jackson families ?
