I was in the admin building this past Saturday while staying at a hotel next door. It's very creepy, much more beaten down and vandalized (after 10-years, it's unfortunately common) but full of amazing opportunities to take pictures. Only visited the first floor. Local police were out front when we walked around the building, but didn't pay any attention to us walking around and taking pictures. FASCINATING visit to say the least.

SWAT teams used the building to practice in.

As of today the administration building still stands. I live about 2 minutes from this site. There has been an ongoing battle between the county who wants to place historical status on the building and Horizon (the developer for Southpointe II) I would LOVE to purchase this building to allow people inside. If anyone has tried to do research on Western Center, it is such a secret!

I did not personally work in this home, but I have a great aunt who did about 50 years ago. She has some pretty disturbing storys of unimaginable torture and abuse as well as hauntings. She also speaks of several who really honestly loved the patients there (such as herself) As was mentioned before, at her time of employment, it was an embarrassment to a family to have a mentally handicapped child. They were institutionalize and pretty much forgotten by their families.

Ok, I know that our government has some whack-jobs running loose. But I seriously hope that our police officers and firemen have better common sense than to go shooting up buildings. While electricity and such should be turned off, you never know what's behind those walls. They could essentially bring the whole place down on top of them doing something so blatantly idiotic!!!! Or, ricocheted bullets, ultimately injuring, or killing, themselves. So, to you people thinking this is police, fire, etc...training in here, please tell me where you live so I never visit there and run into stupid morons doing this dumb shit, who are supposed to be saving my life. Just sayin......My boyfriend is a police officer in our town, and he would never do something so stupid.

I think it's knee punisher to get you to stand at front of the station, kind of like a barbed-wire fence, crowd control if you will.
