Just look at the carving on that woodwork. Fantastic. And quite an angle!
This reminds me of some of the great halls. It really was an elegant era.

It isn't only Detroit. This whole country tends to throw things away rather than fix and reuse. Eldokid, there definitely is a sog factor going on here!
The shadow looks like a rake. Lighting is awesome.
What a gorgeous building - built in the day when architecture and elegance was the norm. They sure don't build them like this anymore. I was so happy to see another set up!

I was thinking the same about the clocks when I visited, but if you go back two photos you'll see a circular remnant above the entrance, which I believe was a large clock. Another one might have also been on the opposite side.

Yes peering over the edge of the open elevator shaft from the topmost floor possible is always a bit unnerving!
