Arrrgh, the heat, I can't type or think.

What I meant to say, "to a mother blah blah" is I think your suggestion of bringing troubled kids to a place like that to "scare them straight" is sick, far sicker than any other conversation on here, especially the ones you are attacking.

I hate to get roped into a debate that doesn't belong, but I felt the need to reply to this one comment.

Who's going to invest any money to restore these places if they don't see it and find a *reason* to? Mind you, this is coming from a future restorer who only really found her passion after viewing the photos on this website (and others).

If you find it so sick, then why don't YOU do something about it.

fascination with the past and maybe learning something from it - sick? hmmm. from what i've read byberry has been empty and abandoned for a very long time. vandalism is nothing new, and i'm not condoning it at all. but curiosity and the desire to explore? that's just human nature and you'll never change it. if people never think about the past they are doomed to never think about things beyond their current frame of reference, and to me that's the sad thing. and, um, since a mother who cares has commented a fair bit, i suspect they are pretty curious themselves. armchair UE doesn't make you superior, you know.

right. i'll shut up now.

To the "Mother that cares":

I'm sorry that you feel our comments lack the decorum that you feel necessary. I sincerely do not see how the comments expressed by people about the photographs on this site contribute to the decline of Western civilization. However, since this is not the place for such a debate, I'd be glad to have a conversation with you either via Private Message or Public Forum in Opacity's Forum (http://www.opacity.us/forum/). My user name there is serrena_de_singe. I look forward to our conversation.
There are millions of people that need an place to live and tht place have too much room.it's screaming for attention
now the city really need to be ashamed of them selves leaving that property like that. If an resident tryed to leave there property like that people would have htem put out or the owner would be fined.

Just some random thoughts here.
Is this some of the aforementioned asbestos?
Do you ever wear masks when you go into some of these places?
"SASSY" sure doesn't have anything better to do.

I'M TELLING YOU, the more I read the sicker you people get. this is really sad that you only see the dark side to things and not the beauty of and learning and showing children how to act in our socity as decent human beings
This would be an very good trip for children that has behavor problems. Take them for an tour and meet an couple of you they would be scared straight!!!!!!!!!!!!
