It is difficult to explain to people the horrible dehumanization of institutional psychiatry; it is difficult for people to listen and believe, because who WANTS to think people treat people this way? (And all subsequent improvements are incremental at best, btw...).

This little washdown facility may have doubled as routine mass hygiene and as intervention/punishment. Think of COLD water.

It's a bit frightening that they leave things like this behind, just imagine! Dead people may have been laying right there in those freezers. It's quite fascinating, but at the same time a bit creepy..

I don't understand why they would have left that behind. Whether they took whats in it or not... the safe itself must be worth a lot of money!

Did you ever take into consideration that not everyone has the ability to sense the paranormal? I to believe that it is there though i have never seen or heard anything... i have had the feeling of a presence though. But i do know of people who claim they have seen and heard. They tell me that from their own experience they can tell if someone else has as well. My boyfriend happens to be one of these people, but to confirm your thoughts Motts... he didn't get anything from Pennhurst.
