I'm always amazed & in awe of these old fireplaces in institutions.

Perhaps Tim isn't meaning his words to be literal but literary. Imagine being a person who was locked in that room, how horrible it must have been.

Once I was told what the image actually was, it wasn't that difficult to see. It's a "Gingerbread House," it just happens that Motts only got part of it in the picture.

Although, the multi-eyed monster thing is what popped out to me at first, too. ;-)

I just stumbled across this site. Great photos Mott. I have always been fascinated by old decrepit places. When I was a kid my dad spent a lot of time in the local regular hospital, not an asylum. But parts of it were built in the 1800's. I remember walking through basement tunnels like this to reach different parts of the hospital. It so sad that Danvers is being torn down. I live in New England and always just wanted to just drive by the place but never made it.

Hippa didn't go into effect until recent years, they had no Hippa act back then, and I'm sure these records are forgotten by current personnel working there.

I've seen some websites that showed pics of records up close but they were kind enough to black out the patient's name. I also read a couple blogs of those with severe psychiatric illnesses and sometimes they are interested and many times they are redundant as if they're brains are stuck.

It stinks in that room due to the fact that the person in front of you cut the cheese!

The 'nuts' didn't play sports, they jsut sort of 'hung' around, maybe a lil pocket ball every once in a while.....

The Body Farm! Wow! I guess this is where my kid will end up during some of her schooling, let's jsut hope that they don't ever allow her to learn from ~Me.

The owner of this hospital was made aware of these fans and they have been removed from the site. I believe out of 5 fans 2 were stolen in the last couple months.

have you guys seen the stalls with the seatbelts on them, really weird
