i work in a hospital, im the supervisor of Radiology, and ... well.. i cant believe that this was even left behind for "bright crayons" to get a hold of!!!!!
some of these images are so vivid and lively, you can feel it. and this picture makes me smell something putrid. i cant tell you how many of these pictures of yours i have looked at Motts and when the room is dusty or rusted, i feel like i cant breathe! its amazing what the mind can do
Upon further investigation of the above picture it is not Bldg. 18. It is the main entrance of the 3 building complex known as 22, 23 & 24. 22 & 24 were the Admissions Building for the different catchment areas of Brooklyn back in the 70's.
what i dont understand is, how on earth can you get that reflection, when the floor is not made of glass. usually, you just get light that fills the room, or maybe even the lines of the bars that separate the window strewn across the floor. but that type of reflection?!?! how is the possible??
The abandoned building are owned by Hartland Corporation. Pilgrim "State" is still open to this day. We are now a small community located in the back of the grounds near Commack Rd. The owner of Hartland plans to build something here eventually. We will have to wait and see when. Most of the buildings have been demolished. There are still a few of the old ones that he owns which are still standing.
Most of the buildings that are left standing have been cleared of asbestos but they are not safe to enter. I do not recommend anyone trying to enter. Our security patrols the areas and will escort trespassers off the grounds. They are also authorized to call Suffolk County Police.
Pilgrim is not big deal. I've worked here for over 35 years nothing is spooky about it at all. People let their imaginations run away in places like this. There are no 7 ft tall women, no screaming voices and no ghosts roaming around the empty buildings. Believe me. I've been in the empty buildings. Sure they are spooky and your imagination can have fun here.
this just gives me an impression of a young girl comeing in with a suitcase and her parrents to drop her off and looking around being impressed by the first impression and then the poor girl being led up to the floor she will be staying on ... somehow this bothers me because such a contrast was this from what it was truely like through the rest of this building for so so many kids so very sad ... comments ? email to justicedreams24@aol.com
