Why were these buildings so dreary and depressing looking? We're only looking at the pictures and making comments; can you imagine someone saying to you that you're going to be living here? That depresses me just thinking about it!
I need to know something, if anybody can answer this, Was mental illness many years ago classified differently than it is now? I know we habe facillities today for people with mental problems but it just seems, to me anyway, that it was just so over-bearing years and years ago. Did thet put someone away for minor things? I guess there wasn't too much they could do for them back then, right?
I just discovered this site and I love it! I thought I was the only one interested in this stuff! I live near the Hanson hospital and just visited it for the first time a few days ago. I wanted to go in but my husband wouldn't let me. I am fascinated by this place and would love to know more of the history .
I thought your pupils became opaque when you die. I know that my dogs did rather quickly when she suddenly died. That womans eyes look normal when I enlarged the picture. I inherited some pictures of relatives of my father from Hungary and one of them is a man in a coffin. It's very weird and creepy.
they do it with childrens homes too.... theyve shut most of the large homes and sold them off for mega bucks, same as the phsyc hospitals, where do the at risk kids and needy patients go now? its called" care in the community". the kids are left at risk and the vunarable must face a nightmare situation of trying to cope in a world they dont understand, or feel they belong in.....
Maybe a little late in posting, but gimme a break! Somebody took a little offense with Dr. Sketch! Thanks for the laughs! Love ya lots Dr. Sketch! (notice I used the spell checker)
