Thank you, Lynne, for the info. you provide on a lot of these photographs. It is nice to know that a knowledgeable person is willing to share with the rest of us who wonder about some of these things. Again, many thanks.

The fire suround looks like it's 1930's ceramic tile. They look good but were relativly inexpensive.

To sum it all up, they for the paitents protection and to cause no harm to them. Infact could prevent harm coming their way. Like safety belts, just like safety belts. I mean you strap your baby in a stroller or carseat, so why not think of that protection for everyone that may need it.

Amazing. Simply amazing how so many people use up space by making comments with useless info. Thank you Amy for making an interesting comment. The rest of you just need to exchange email addys so you can blast away with silliness.

Those are the chairs we used for lunch in the middle shcool. In highschool they have black and red for our school colors :D

Straps, restraints, support, whatever you want to call them, they were and are used for one purpose. To keep the patient in their gosh darn seat! Some patients are violent and some are simply weak. Nonetheless, rules were different back then compared to now. Nowadays, you can get sued for simply looking at someone in a "wrong" way. Hospitals and institutions must be very careful on how they handle and speak about their patients. Also, some people get very easily insulted on how you describe a certain situation, so please be careful and unfortunately, you must always walk on eggshells because there is always someone out there just dying to get on your case for insensitivity.

The chair is relaxing and watching the paint peel away like a wide screen tv that keeps getting bigger and bigger.

When they tape black paper to the backs of the windows of some doors at school i always use them for mirrors. :P

I second that.

I'm in love. This is the room where I would put my bed right by the two windows up aganst the wall. Or not even have a bed just a mattress on the ground so i can sit comfortably and read books all day long.

After every picture the lust for wanting to live in this place grows and grows on me.

I love at one part you can see the wires coming out.
It inspires me for poetry and stuff
