Fire tube boilers each with two burners. The water to be heated is insde the tank and the fire / hot combustion gasses run through the tubes to the stack.

This may be a stupid question, but here goes. Is that actually the bottom half of Orion in the top right corner? If so, how did you manage to capture it at that time of day?

I used my cell phone's crappy camera to take that shot. Upon looking closer at it, I couldn't see much further detail....it had the stainless steel "frame" and what appeared to be a glass front. I wasn't sure if it was for emergency purporses or some other odd use.

My mother worked here in the late 70's and said it was a very sad place to be. I recently heard that they are turning the property into a spa/boutique shopping area to be called "Cold Spring Resort" or something like that. I believe the paperwork has been approved and parts of it will be torn down - not if all of it.

I just don't understand why some of the magnificent buildings were left unused.

I really like this one. Even in the midst of decay, there is still some life.

This room looks almost untouched by time. The carpet is still pristine.

The curtains add an amazing softness to this otherwise harsh scene. Kinda like a soft, half-rotted gown on a corpse.

By that same logic anyone could come into YOUR house and take YOUR shit. After all, it's just going to get torn down and tossed out eventually anyway, right?
