Connie, nobody has mentioned your uncle or his "passed". We are here to admire some awe-inspiring photography and accounts from those that have resided/have relatives that resided at these places are usually welcome, provided they are of relevence to the topic.
As has been said, we haven't mentioned your uncle at all and Navi is right....flaming will get you nowhere.
You're right BEAVIS, he does look bad, but take heart, - I have heard that when they tried to get him out the first time, and couldn't, they had Mr. Mark Cline, (he does this type of thig for a living, and is excellent at it), go in and take measurements, because they thought they would have to have a replica made.
So, with the measurements, and all the pictures they can gather, they will be able to fix him back up! Clark's Elioak Farm is always looking for photos, especially for restoration. They will gladly scan anyones pics of The E. F. so they can restore these precious treasures!
(Motts has the link to their website at the intro. of this E.F. series of pics. You can contact them through that)
So glad you got to go BEAVIS!
I'm a little embarassed to say, I used to believe all those rumours too. But reading all the comments here and on the forum has definitely changed my mind. I've learned so much! And lately I've been considering art therapy as a career. :)
Thanks Lynne =)
Don't worry, you're not the only one who generalizes around here. I must admit that before I found this site and started reading these extremely thought-provoking comments, I probably would have been more likely to believe all the rumors about mental health institutions, considering they're mostly what you hear about. You rarely hear about any of the good things that happen. Although I now believe that the good outweighs the bad a million times over, and it's thanks to people like you Lynne, and everyone else out there that contributes their time, patience, smiles and tears to people who really need them.
Oh and by the way I've never seen anything in the way of ghosts either! Maybe we're just deaf and blind to anything that's out there. =) I just know that until I get some proof one way or the other, I'm definitely willing to believe in the possibility of paranormal activity.
Sorry for the long posts Motts! I absolutely love your pictures. You are a talented and compassionate artist.
I worked at BSS from 1970 til 1984. When I first started working there, there were over 1500 residents and less than 500 staff for 24 hour care 365 days out of the year. When I left in '84', there were less than 500 residents and over 1500 staff. I am proud to have been part of the process that set these people free.
Unless your uncle is this wheelchair, no one is talking about him.
I think it's just rotten (or "roten," if you will) that "you people" keep flaming in the comments section and trying to ruin our enjoyment of the past.
How about contributing something positive about your family's experience (even if the story is negative, at least you wouldn't be trying to insult us) so we have a better idea of what it was like for your uncle, and we can empathise?
Otherwise, there's no sense crying over spilt milk.
My grandfather used to work at a T.B. hospital and they did have a "body chute" they used to dump the bodies in and send to the morgue in the basement when they were overwhelmed with lots of casualitys
It was probalby a wish, a calling....or a word that brought comfort. When you are "crazy" and the world seems dark and against you, and you are lost inside of your own mind, sometimes " DETH " is all you want, especially if you are locked in a room all alone with nothing to do but listen to your maddening thoughts.
Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9...Session 9........WOAH!! That is SCARY!! It is almost the SAME photo from the "Session 9" movie!!!
i found out my uncle lived there and i think it is just roten that you people just keep bringing up thing that the people that lived there want to forget. how would you like people talking about your passed? it make me cry just to have you guys talking about my family.
People that are mentally unbalanced need to have "stability" and "similarity" to cope. It is more comfortable if everything LOOKS the same and FEELS the same in a room. Hence, the refelctiveness of hospitals, and the light "soothing" colors.
As has been said, we haven't mentioned your uncle at all and Navi is right....flaming will get you nowhere.
Contribute positively or don't bother at all.
