Yes, it looks like marble in the stairs... the wall to the right has original stepped brick on the bottom that was covered with what looks like a more modern latex-based paint.

dt: sadly, almost all these buildings have been demolished this past year.

Johnnsy: The sun set around 9pm, and started coming up around 2:45am, so I would guess we woke up at 2:30... a good four hours of sleep wasn't too bad.

Michele: no it was actually very quiet and peaceful while we slept inside... usually these places are noisy only during windy weather as windows rattle and doors slam open and shut, but that night was very calm.

Why does this picture have such an effect on me? A crest with the inscription 'Do not despair, have faith in god' in an abandoned broken down building, full of despairing memories. It's the ultimate irony. My favorite so far.

With that curved celing, it almost looks like a hallway in a submarine. I love the colors and the lighting in this pciture. It has that long stretched look, like the end is lightyears away.
