The sharp contrast between the light and darkness as it is used to represent in this hallway is a decision, plain and simple. As we are programed as human beings and pulled by our spirits, which direction do we go? Darkess represents the fear and foolishtempation that gives us the cold emptiness of the abyss where there is no joy and everlasting void in which the foolish only tred. Where the light opens up the clairty, the true view to your surroundings, safety and absolute warmth and truth to where no wrong can happen here. And most upon all is, happiness to just be in the light.

I believe such atrocities would of taken place,
there were no laws then protect women back then from abuse in any form, especially spousal abuse. As you can see the walls do not lie. Even to this day, they weep for the women that had been there.

Nice shot! I used to have a video game called Mario64 and there was a board in that game that was a clock like this. It's the first thing that flashed into my mind when I saw this.

Motts use of hallway is what I interperate as the utmost respect to the ascension to heaven.
An there is always the use of light, be it in the middle or the end, light is always present.
