Almost all British mental hospitals had on-site laundries, urbex has a few good pictures of old equipment like this.

If the hall was used for different things then I guess the seats were stacked against the walls, & have been removed.

Most British Mental Hospitals had main halls, which were often used as a dining area for more able patients.

As well as laying down casks of whiskey here, is there any distillation equipment? This looks very interesting with all it's stranged shaped piping in copper.

That explains the whiskey barrel racks.
