lol. actually, its a steam expansion return pipe. it basically holds the extra built up steam from the boilers and recyles it.

Danvers State Asylum had a chapel, but it was demolished along with the rest of the site earlier this year.

Fill line looks like it's about halfway up, but my eyes could be playing tricks on me.

Nobody did harm to the cat. When cats are going to die, they usually go for quiet areas to die. All too often I find dead cats in such areas.

Motts, do you know if there were any lights in here at one point? if not than it was possibly so dark to keep patients from roaming the halls in the middle of night perhaps?
