How strange that in the 1940 report the asylum has only one psychiatrist and all those medical staff lol some psychiatric care

The place was painted in a lot of pastel colors. Lead pain not so much. It was there certainly, but it wasn't used a lot on the interior. Asbestos was the major culprit at the Hathorne Hilton

The State School is one of my favorite places to go!! Weird i know...I live the town over and have visited many times...i have just recently seen the theater and fell in love with it!! i have been in most of the other buildings...but ur shots of the theater are amazing...you captured it just as it is.

i live in spring city and i hunt there and i walked through all the buildings and even some of the tunnels you guys herd shit that wasnt even true about this placce... both of my grand moms were secretarys there and they said rumors got around and no one knows how pennhurst really is so stop with the rumors they aint true your all beat!!!

I guess that when they transfered the residents from here to where ever it was they wound up it was just much more easy to buy them all new toothbrushes rather than ship all these? Just a thought? Still. Creepy really... AND I'm a bit OCD and very picky about my personal belongings. I would of not done well if I had to give over my toothbrush. To my way of thinking, I would not of been able to abide the idea and very real possibility that my toothbrush was being housed with and possibly dripped upon from other people, (strangers) spitty, drippy toothbrushes. Yuck yuck nastygross! But like I said I'm a bit OCD and germs, especially public strangers germs are a thing with me.

Fan. Collecting. Well I guess you learn something new every day. I'm still shaking my head over this whole section of comments. I had no idea people collected old fans nor did I know that the fan collection world was so lively. Ah well I guess people collecting old fans isn't any stranger than people collecting old cars or TVs or anything else old people collect...

Fan? Collecting? Oh my! This really is the oddest thred yet that I have read. It has got my head spinning round and round. BTW that is a rather creepy fan. I'd bet, if it ran, a lot of dust and crud would billow out... Also the shadow of the blades is a bit strange and unnerving. It looks like it could remove a finger or two, the blades... Nways...

Yeah, what is that sticking out above the window? To me and my shite sight it looked at first glance to be a tree branch, but blowing up the picture to super large showed no trees to which the branch could be attached. So I'm guessing it's some sort of ariel?

Ahh don't ya know? Nearly every state school and hospital has tall fences all round their grounds. This is to keep the nosey ole' public out so that the workers there can abuse the residents! Okay I'm just kidding. Really though, I think a lot of state schools and hospitals have tall fences like this not to torment the people on the inside, just for security measures. I know that the state school for the blind I attended as a child for summer term had a very very tall fence around the grounds and I was freaked out by it and worried a bit as to my fate but it was explained to me that the location of the school was and still is in a very bad neighborhood and it was, the fence I mean, was for security.

That's kind of creepy. Like an electric chair just waiting for you.
