May 1991, shortly before the fire 2 of my friends and I went into this building, I can't remember if it was the second floor but near one of the bathrooms was a room with a solitary wheelchair, the floor was covered in dust with only tread marks from the wheel going across the room from wall to wall, far away from the only door...my question is did you find this room? If I can find the pistures I took I will gladly post them, they just frightened me to keep them around so I unfortunately put them somewhere and am currently trying to find them.
There are tunnels I have been in them, they had to blow two of them up because of the new school, they are the size of a two car road, and have steel access covers every couple hundred feet, be careful full of lead paint and asbestos ,
Motts, thank you for sharing a view of something I never thought I would see. I used to live very close by to the FSH- just down main street. I grew up around that area. I have always been intrigued by what it might look like inside. It is even better than I have imagined. Thank you for opening the doors for all of us and in such a splendid, artistic way.
You do not just take photographs but create mood and atmosphere. It's as if we were creeping along the corridors with you, ears straining to hear because something.... something made a noise down the dark hall behind us. Eyes flicking from door to door searching for the shadow we could have sworn detached itself from the blackness. Your photography is both beautiful and moving and I am honored that you have chosen to share it. Thank you. Dawn C.
i enjoy this room a lot, i guess me and my friends are the "vandals" you guys are constantly refering too, we go there about every weekend and just kinda sneak around and try to run from security. has anyone else ran into the bicycle patrol man? me and my friends call him larry and supposedly is a nam vet, hes even caught some of my friends before but we always manage to get away, lets just say hes not that good at running. idk what to say, i really like dever and hanging out there, i have yet to find the pool but i have slept over night at dever with some friends, because there is a somewhat recent building near the hq that has mattresses in it. oh yeah and its always fun to find full fire extinguishers, they are so fun to play with
This is the Vincennes attic, which now has a nice big garden growing out of the floor. Vincennes is one of the most deteriorated buildings of them all, aside from the old part of Whitman (medical building), which has a few collapsed floors.
My grandmother was one that was wheeled beyond the ornate doors and emerged 6 years in a casket. It was long ago and she had alzheimers at a young age. Not much was knowm at that time. I will remember goeing to see her and knowing the superficiial beauty was a better show than PT Barnum could ever do. A beatiful vibrant women entered. A withered shell emerged.
That is not a B3. I learned to play on a B3 and it only had a single octave of foot pedals. A B3 would not be worth more than $100- The B3 has an internal speaker but it is not powerful. It needs the Leslie to project
