Nah, I didn't get to go there.

I always felt in my heart this place should be shot for Opacity.

The smell is like old concrete and must.

Notice the 'modern' heater in the upper right:also the lights(There was no electricity when this place opened)

The floor is solid. In most parts.Except under the Rotunda.I would have loved to have gone under the Rotunda.

They have been working on stabilizing the bldg.for a long time now.(including such things as wrapping the skylights with rags,then plastic tied with rope)

so sad peoples lives just strewn on the floor like that, no body cares any more

has'nt it been reported that former patients keep going back and sleeping rough?

If you use psychic photography techniques you WILL see orbs,whatever they are,but I have seen them.

I did feel an overwelming sinse of-I don't know what- when I visited.So much,so many had passed through there that I felt summers,sorrow,triumph and heat,dashed hopes and exileration of expected release.

anyone seen the made for tv movie "rose red"? some of the buildings remind me of the place they used in that, must be the red brick and oldness. im so gutted that i will never get to visit this place in person. How could they tear down such a fantastic building, just think about how much skill and workmanship went into it! ist so so sad.

Well, I am really surprised to see this.
Not that Eastern isn't worthy of being featured;;it certainly is.But rather I considered that it technically and officially does not have an "abandoned" status.It certainly was for a time and it looks it.
But Eastern is too solid and too important to knock down.When I was there (visiting,heh heh)about twelve years ago('95 or '96) they were looking for ideas then as what to do with it.But it looks as if tours,Hallowe'en events,history studies etc. have prevailed and as long as they make some money on it to restore it thats' fine with me.
