So beautiful. The onate white knob and the fancy key construct. Got class, got something that doesn't exists anymore. Mott's you should have removed it and put it your personal collection.

Maybe, they embalmed the bodies before they were taken away to minimize the spread of tuberculosis and other diseases. A very thought invoking image.

Mr. Motts is not only a first rate photographer, but a first rate writer, also. The introduction to this album reminds me of the writings of Henry David Thoreau in his book, "A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers." I appreciate all the work you share with us, Motts.

For those who have been allowed into the Asylum, I'm wondering who you contacted to gain access to the buildings. I've been searching for an address for ages and haven't found one. Any help would be much appreciated!

at Severalls the theatres are downstairs and the surgical ward is upstairs. they had lifts tho. apparently they used to take surgical cases from the general hospital just across the way but i don't know if it was designed with that in mind...
