This is the first time I've seen a shot that I desperately wish for as wallpaper (that isn't already wallpaper).

I love all the shots.. I introduced myself in the forum and promised to post some of my own (incredibly inferior) pics, but I've been lost in your galleries for literally *weeks* and haven't gotten around to it,

But this photo... wow. Maybe it's the red. (I collect red glass.) Maybe it's the floor and ceiling. Don't know, but I'd PAY for this as wallpaper!!!

I can always count on the comments section of Opacity to entertain. This thread has got to be one of the most memorable ones yet.

I think the pipe across the ceiling is the retrofitted electrical conduit for the lights. They're in every room and I don't see a sprinkler head.

But I could be totally wrong, too.

Did they ever decide what to do with the property once the fire gutted part of the Kirk? I have not found any recently updated info on it... it's like everything just stopped once it burned.

Maybe it was re-abandoned?

Isn't this the admin building? So there probably wouldn't have been patients looking out of these windows at all, let alone ones who felt "trapped."

I grew up with this image fresh in my nightmares. Being to young to even Know it was a psychiatric institution I always felt an ominous presence driving by in the family sedan. Although i agree It's visually haunting, unlike it's occupants it seems to escape everyones conscience what this place was .

I went to the hospitals a couple years back (maybe 2 or 3?). We parked at the shopping center across from the water tower and ran our way across 450 and up the hill-- theres a couple paths that you can see. Basically just bobbed and weaved in the tall grass on that hill. Got up to the top and chilled out for minute waiting for the rest of the group. Everyone got together and we were on our way. We freaked out when we came across two people but they were just hanging out in the field on a date sort of thing. Eventually spot lights hit the field and we hit the ground, then an accident happened on 450 at the light and all the cops fled to that, so we were pretty much home free. No more cops after that. So we proceeded to the childrens hosp, looked around, got bored as it was the 3rd time we checked it out. Then we headed to the nurses quarters in which we... FOUND THE TUNNELS! We went down and traveled for what seemed like forever. No dead ends. No bars. Just maybe a maximum of an inch of water at times. It was definatly cool. Only road block was from stones that had been thrown down a man hole that blocked the path somewhat, but we could have still gotten around. Eventually we climbed out and we were by the adult hosp. Started walking out, and BAM! Theres the security trailer. We snuck by and back across the street, through the field, and back to the cars. Really cool place to go. A couple weeks later a few friends of mine got caught-- 5 people went, 3 hid in the woods and never got caught, 2 got nabbed and only the one over 18 got community service and a fine. The other got a slap on the wrist. One of the spookiest places I've been but definatly worth it. PS-- DON'T park in the parking lots across from the hospital-- the cops said they would have never known they were there if they hadn't parked there. And if you park in the shopping center DON'T wear all black-- Dead give away!!

Bad vibes. Entering where departed souls have been is very bad business. Especially if the chindi (ghosts) are still around.

Here is a novel idea. Why don't we lock all of those vandals in the cage and fling poo at them. See how they like it.
