Beautiful pic, Motts. Truly captures the geometry and the superb craftsmanship of another time. Even in abandonment there is still a sense of vigour and purpose. Hopefully this beautiful building with a tragic backstory can be sensitively brought back to life. Reminds me of Boldt Castle near Alexandria Bay, NY in the Thousand Islands of the St. Lawrence River, before the current restoration efforts. Worth a visit.

The original toilet likely had the tank placed higher up the wall fed by a cistern in the attic (speculation but that would be typical of the period and used widely in British and European manors).

Thanks for another excellent gallery! I enjoyed it as always!

This makes me wonder how it was moved in there as it is obviously extremely heavy. It's a shame it went to waste and was never used. Imagine how much wood it would have taken in order to cook on this daily!

This is such a great perspective! This is a great composition. You really do have a great photographer's instinct for the right shot.

That path does appear to be well used.

I've actually never seen a bathroom where you had to go down steps to get into it. Very unusual! That's a very modern toilet, by the way. It does not seem to belong there.

This is such a beautiful fireplace! The stone carving is gorgeous. The craftsmanship is excellent here. The arches in the room do give this the feel of a castle.

I love the doors too. They do look like they should be in a church. Excited to see a new gallery!

This is beautiful woodwork on the fireplace. The built in bookshelves are great.
