Yup, reminds me of myself and every other kid who went to camp of some sort in Atwood Park...goofing around checking out the remains of the Camp Grant bunkers shrouded in the trees.
There's city parkland in the woods in the area of our airport. (south end) The park district runs week-long overnight camp sessions in the summer and I got to go for a few days on a grade school mini camp. Anyhoo, the park gets closed every so often for ammo sweeps-the place used to be our WWII training camp. On the night hikes, we got to go over to the old bunkers back in the trees. (another cool thing-a geology walk along the river bluffs to find rocks with fossils, which I did.)
What about a kayak launch? Is there anywhere to get close to the river? Friends wanting to take a peak were chased out of the huge junkyard blocking the view. They were probably not the first. Can you help me, native Staten Islanders? I visited your lovely Chinese Scholars Garden just yesterday.
NEVERMORE gets a point here. IL has outlets & sockets going both ways. Personally, I associate socket with light bulbs. "no outlet" IS a funny way to say "dead end" ...or, for that matter, blind alley! ;) Ice blocks, Felyne? seriously? -BTW, "Davenport" was a brand of convertible sofa/couch. I've also wondered if the Hoover brand of vacuum cleaners has lost it's name copyright in Britain. Here, we may Hoover, but we also Oreck! ;) ;)
Voluntary (and nice) electro-stimulation PT: electrodes applied around my kneecap with an ice pack over it-stimulation along with the ice to reduce excess inflammation.
Involuntary jolt: being tasked with topping off horses' water buckets by putting a hose through the stall bars. Specifically, these two horses were owned by a diva who insisted on running electric wire across the entire front (in)side of their stalls. For instant fun, just add water! Ouch. Rather punishing to those of us just trying to fill a water bucket!
