If you have ever opened a frigerator after 6 months or so of not running ,with food still in it, you will know why not to open it and that is by experience.

There might have been a toilet I think. No room for a tub.

Almost everything in this hospital was really solid.

I think it's an animal trail; they appear in some really dusty places. Rodents or raccoons making their way through the rooms on a routine basis.

Yes, quite a number of rooms had EXIT stenciled on the bottoms of the walls - presumably a way to find your way out while crawling through thick smoke, without using electric signage.
