regrettably, in my misspent youth, I spent a fair amount of time in "seclusion rooms", aka "rubber rooms" - however - this is the first REAL Rubber Room I've ever seen. Awesome! When did you say this place closed down?

Is it still there as of today?I was there 83-85,and would like to see it before its gone.

Wow.I was in that room many times as a kid.Believe it or not,alo tof the kids there were"normal" kids that came from bad family situations,no where else to put them when foster homes were full.Until now i had blocked it all out.I think one of the happiest days of my life was leaving that place.Is there any way to get inside it now?

My first couch was Ethan Allen and it had the same frame, but orange cushions on the backs and seat area, obviously. It was pretty rad. My boyfriend at the times parents wedding present.

It was really cool we went inside and you could actually climb a stairwell to the roof it was amazing

I know I wouldn't want to be in that bed that was so close to those doors. It would be a busy place esp if they were wheeling pts outside alot? It just seems as if it wouldn't be restful at all. Even with the curtains up. Ugh!! At least IMO...but who knows....Plus I'm surprised theres so much glass left in the doors and windows ....very interesting too.....

i googled this site because of an old book i found and am reading"the Junkie Priest,Father Daniel Egan S.A. By John D.Harris"he helped alot of drug addicts,especially women.he was definately before his time...great pics

People who say stupid things and make comments about this place do not realize what went on behind closed doors. You are sick and disgusting people if you can look at these photos and laugh or think this place is "sweet" Take it from someone who knows a survivor of Pennhurst who can live to tell you the horror they went through. It is far from sweet. In no way should any person be treated the way these individuals were, and there is no excuse what so ever for our society to justify the living hell these people went through!

So before you go and talk your smart comments and make your jokes read the stories, do the research and put yourself in their shoes. Not so funny anymore is it???
