Just an update on my comment above - someone DID buy that place. I noticed a new roof on it, which was obviously put there to stop the decay. Can't wait to see what they do to this building, I hope someone makes it into a home.

I think people say they want those doors in there houses because a piece of art has been abandoned and if left to sit there it will rote and then where would the doors be? Gone. then no one could enjoy them. I don't think they mean they want to go and steal them, they mean they want to perserve a beautiful piece of history that has been abandoned and forgotten

The rooms in this place are amazing! I never understood why a place of this stature was never turned into something else so people could see the wonderful architechuall design

the tin on the ceilings are worth allot of money, I saw someone with some of it on Antique Roadshow.

it appears it for people to wear on thier shins to help with walking, just guessing.

Hey Lynne I read ur thing on the crib picture and I have to say thank you, I often end up in these places. People need to know that funding is getting bad for institution such as for Rainbow (State Hospital). Rainbow just closed down one of the patient wings, and our gov. does not care I try to speak out cause I, myself end up in these places and when I go I want to make sure that none of the past histories don't repeat itself.

That is nailed into bricks????
