I, too, am glad all viewpoints are being spilled about this place, especially by it's former workers. Thankyou for telling your stories. Again, bad things happen, and it's important to acknowledge them and admit they happened rather than taking such strong personal offense to these particular stories, to those of you in the medical field... and again, don't worry. Most of us outside that field DO realize what you do is important and flat-out heroic. However, we can't let the past so unrecognized. What's that about "those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it"?

Motts, you mentioned how heavily vandalised this place is, i am a frequent visitor to henryton for poetic inspiration, photogrphic purposes and its serenity, and each time i visit, heart-breakingly, it becomes more and more crippled, i've seen holes in the walls where kids with sledge hammers literally level entire walls and rip the washing machines out and toss them across the campus, it was once such a beautiful hospital and now its barely even standing:(

Well, for some, lg, it was not a nice place. Massive class-action lawsuits that are won and succeed in shutting state facilities down don't happen because everything was nice. Bad things do happen, and happened here. It's of utter importance to realize it, admit it, learn from it, and as citizens, not to let it happen again.

I don't know, Lynne, with all due respect... in the '68 news footage, a boy was asked it he'd prefer riches or leaving Pennhurst. He replied that he'd rather leave.
