That was probably the Christmas tree way back when.

I have a photo of the Amtrack engine sitting and waiting to be boarded it must have been shot in the early 80s i dont know who shot it though,my sister gave it to my dad after he retired in 1986.

tower 48 and 49 were on the ends of rail yard, they were so big it took 3 men on motorized chairs also on small rails to route the traffic around the station .My dad was one of them. He also worked that consol.

there is where my dad started his NYC RR career in 1949

ny dad worked for NYC RR 39 years sold tickets right there in the station .

yeah the face of a baboon ,my dad sold tickets from those booths in the late 40s and bid up to traffic tower switch yard operator, he sent the trains down the right tracks,1983 was the year he retired from conrail he had 39 years in.I used to love looking at the bison in the great hall as a kid, i also used to go to the terminal to shovel snow for a few extra bucks , had my physical for my own railroad job right there in the tower 1n 1976.

i can imagine these pictures of kppc still running with nurses doctors and the worst of all......... the patients

oh and also there are some stairs with a door open or broken you would call it you can crawl through it i went inside it looks awsome inside if you go further when you are outside the buildingeep on going and you will find stairs and go through the weeds and plants and go up the stairs and crawl through the metal wire and keep on going to see inside i love your K.P.P.C photos motts

there is a face in this picture..look real close above the cat on the side to the left...you can see the head , eyes, nose and a mouth...looks like man with his mouth open..freaky

That's very sad news, anonymous. It really bothers me when a beautiful work of architecture is destroyed by vandals. (sigh)
