Well that's creepy!

As far as murals in these old hospitals go, this is probably the least creepy of all the ones I've seen so far >.<

it's very dangerous to revome asbestos. don't revome the pipe and don't tear the insulation (it's there so that in the winter, the pipe will not crack). the best thing to do, which all home inspectors advise these days, is to COVER the asbestos. you can call your local hardware store to find out what additional insulation you can use to cover that because then you have even more insulation. i remember when the asbestos problems were first discovered. many old frame houses are sided with asbestos, which actually is the best insulator for frame structures. more people were put at health risk by removing the siding rather than just siding over it. what you do not want to have is HANGING, UNCOVERED asbestos. talk to a home inspector about that.

quad is def my favorite building past potters field through the woods past the water tower, down the back , is such a relaxing place to go since its off the beaten path!............ havnt seen a LIVE soul yet!

I worked in this building during the 60's and left to finish college to later become a teacher. I worked in Expenditures and was a mail clerk as well as a numbering clerk. Finally ending up as the clerk responsible for paying the ballast accounts for the NYC. What a sad day it is to see this building crumbiing.

Am breathless and exhausted by this Gallery, AGAIN! Unable to pick a favorite, they all are. Have no idea why this gallery is so dear to my heart, and keep returning. Such excellent work. may you always be well, and safe, is my daily wish, Mr. M.

When FIRST saw the picture, and before read ANY comments, thought ah:
"Very Clever Food-drier, indeed."
Here in Sweden we dry a lot of food. Well ventilated, small heat, and time does it. Put food on tray, close mesh, and leave it. Very good for a large amount of apples, mushrooms, berries of all kinds. Even meat. Is this a in the kitchen? Would they really have wanted animals in a kitchen? hmmm
THEN read all comments. Have no idea about food procedure in USA at the time.
