These two projectors also have the small yellow PSH stickers on them, as if anyone was going to ever be able to remove them! Fifteen years of vandal attacks have still not uprooted these two beasts.

This is in the stairway adjacent to the burned-out *Overkill* room where we left Gonzo on the first trip.(A Grand Tour). It still amazes me that anyone would pick Byberry on a 90 degree day to take multiple hits of acid (LSD), but to each their own, ya know?

Were this shot in color, you would see that the twin pillars are made from a brilliant, blazing blue tile, while the rest of the room is now in drab earth-tones. The contrast is quite remarkable.

I just heard from Long Island News that someone finally baught the property after it has been on the market for 10 years. The estimated cost for cleanup would be between 30 and 50 million dolllars. The buyers are making the State pay for the clean. Folks from Smithtown don't seem to be too happy about it all; traffic, over crowded schools

Is there someone standing on the other side of that glass? Really looks like they're trying to peer through at you.

Pale green is supposed to be a "calming" color.
As well, hospitals started to use this color for their operating rooms back in the 30s because it is the complementary color of red, so when medical staff had to spend a lot of time in surgery there would be some visual relief. If they looked at white walls they would have green "after-images" from continuously looking at blood. Green walls also produce less glare than white walls.
Or so they tell me. :-)

Why do Asylums always have green painted walls?
I have to agree with spacyjo about these beautiful buildings being left to rot is such a waste. Dunno if I'd want them converted to group homes, but there has got to be something we can do with these buildings instead of just building new (and eventually abandoning them too).
