Im not sure, but I think it was "El Peecho's" web site where he states that he found all kinds of secret rooms that were sealed up.... stairwells that were boarded over. He had some pictures.....

Like those murals - even when first painted would cheer anyone - especially a child... I'm beginning to believe that some of the decision makers at Pennhurst were really sick bastards.
