Many of people died of violent crimes in this hospital, as a resident of south Philly not in this neighborhood but in the early 90's the area had alot of violence from drug wars and the mob wars and this hospital was on the news every night with a saying like " victim was shot and taken to mount Sinai and pronounced dead" it was normal in those days. This was a busy emergency room.

I worked at this place from 1979 through 1980. I was 19 years old when I started working at Ypsilanti State Hospital. I was a Resident Care Aide III. In 1980, they changed the name to Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital. At the time, I was also a student at Eastern Michigan. I was able to do quite a bit of studying on the job. I remember when they painted those "rainbows" on the walls. It believe it was in the summer of 1979, when they did the painting. Working at YRPH was quite an eye-opener for a 19 year old. Ohhhh.... the stories and images from that place I have emblazened into my mind.

This reminds me of that film 1408, where the main character tries to escape the room to go to the next window and there isnt another window, just the one! wonder if that room was just as creepy as the one in the film.
