additional comment here. the state doesnt inspect the group homes of the company that i work(ed) for they went from icf to cla. for those of you not familiar with those terms. icf is intermediate care facility, basically they were state run, sorry state funded.
cla is community living arrangement. now those homes are funded by the county the house is in. and that is the only difference. is where the funding comes from. hmm supervision must have had its rewards. last i heard, the state doesnt fund many of the homes anymore they are funded by the counties.

was reading over these posts. and found it amusing to see someone worked in pa group homes. funny how your "NOT ALLOWED" to abuse. yeah that was one of the rules in a group home in pa. since in the past 15 years i have worked in one. and know the rules of the state. just because someone says your "NOT ALLOWED" to abuse a client. or consumer as they are known as. doesnt mean it doesnt happen. happens in them everyday. thats right you take someone off the street and hire them to work in the group homes and pay them a crappy wage and let them deal with 8 to 12 severely mentally retarded people and tell me what you think will happen in there. not everyone gives a crap about the people they work with especially if the people they work with have no way of defending themselves and i might add. that the people in high positions of these companies are the most guilty. I advocated for a client and was told to shut my mouth and that i could not tell a client to be heterosexual. funny how do you tell someone who has the mind of a 2 year old and is basically nonverbal to be heterosexual. Makes you want to scream at the idiot that tells you that. and say why did you take a convicted child sex offender who is also mentally retarded out of jail and put him in the same bedroom as someone who is incapapble of defending themselves. so please dont say you are not allowed to abuse the clients. just because someone says you cant do it doesnt mean people dont do it. seen it every day for a long time.
