I'm sure I'm completely off here, due to when this architectural style came out, it seemed as though the welfare of parents wasn't exactly at the top of the list, but I was just thinking how the Kirkbride style could have been specially developed for state hospitals to prevent the patients from being able to injure themselves on regular sharp-cornered walls. I guess it was just cause it reminded me of those special rounded corner chairs. Although I'm sure the architecture had nothing at all to do with that.
I forget to mention last time ~ thats old paper just sitting on the rack thing right? It's awesome how it was just left there, and that it hasn't disentegrated or been eaten away by vermin.
Ugh...is that floor covered with muck? I can't even imagine the smell. However, I love the angle you took this at...the lockers all messed up and such.
Ah hah! My parents were just talking about these machines the other day...my mom was saying she always loved the smell of the ink. I was wondering what these things looked like!
Talk about a picture from a nightmare! I'm surprised I haven't had one yet where I'm falling through gaping holes in the floor of a building I'm exploring. Looking at these gives me that weird feeling in my feet...that loss of blood or whatever, when you're standing on the edge of something way up high and could fall. I would be shaking if I had to walk that hallway!
Great shot! Motts, did you tie back the curtains all perfect like that, or were they just like that? The contrast is great - all around, things falling apart, and yet the curtains are neatly tied back.
*gag* Uggh if I came across that, I'd be sick. Reminds me of a nasty "CSI" episode...ack, I can barely look at the picture...this is the kind of stuff I'm "scared" to find when I explore, lol.
Yuck, I can't imagine the stench eminating from that! Is that a footprint I see in the lower left-hand corner?,,,Neat that the curtains are still up - they look to be in pretty good shape!
