I was in there the year it closed down, in 2003. It was as bad as you can imagine while in operation. Fortunately I was only there for six months.

Funnily enough, I have been under our house today clearing all the old bathroom tiles the previous owner dumped under there. Although they were in pieces and fragments, these are very similar to what this bathroom would have looked like in the early 50's..... what a shame and waste.....

Yes that is an intercom, but more specifically it is the nurses' call bell system. A handheld pendant would be plugged into that round connector on the left. The patient could press the button and the nurse would be called to the room. At the nurses' station, they could talk back and forth with the patient to find out what it is they needed before coming to the room to attend to them.

Worked for IBM repairing the forensic center's computers back in the 70's.. The folks who worked there in this facility for the criminally insane really had their hands full. I remember the orderly's had syringe packs on their belts so they could sedete patients quickly. They had the worst of the worst for the criminally insane.. I knew a lot of the people who worked there and even though the building was old they ran a really tight ship.. Can't forget the razor wire and the radar in the no mans land around the faciility.

Just visited the other day with some of my friends. We found a TV that was turned on and we saw the silhouette of a man walk by an open doorway. We tried to speak with him but he didn't answer. We started freaking out so I lead them out (I had already explored the building) through this room and there were four beds in the middle of the room and a sound system set up all throughout the huge room. Eerie music was playing and we got scared and ran away. Later, while waiting for the train back to the city, we heard music blasting from the building, presumably from the sound system we had seen set up. I was wondering if anybody knew anything about this. Please help, my friends and I reaaaally want to know what was going on.
