First, Im curious, what was the "TA" class?
I saw the news expose' - Suffer the Children - done about Pennhurst , I tend to think conditions could have been better much better in there. I do agree on the short handed staff issue and can understand how the state workes. I worked for the state in a State Hospital for over 20 years and they did want out of the Hospital Business for sure, but, I believe there were abuses going on in Pennhurst whether they were intentional or not - I do not know.....
Very sad picture no matter what the circumstances....

This picture reminded me of the origin of the Term "Kicked the Bucket"
In the old days in England, when one was in jail, it was literally a cage of iron bars and you were given a bed of straw and a bucket . The bucket was where you ate / drank from and (believe it or not) was also your toilet. Prisoners were often forgotten about and left to starve. Obviously conditions were bad and many committed suicide by tieing a piece of clothing to the top bar and placing it around their neck,, standing on the bucket and then kicking it out from under themselves... Hence the term - He kicked the Bucket. (sorry, couldnt resist telling it given the picture)

wow, what a mess. Im surprised no one thought to dispose of the syringes and Mercury kind of dangerous leaving that stuff behind...

I must say I'm surprised to see such large windows in a Morgue. (and so many of them) Was the glass the kind you can see clearly through? or were the windows frosted?
Is that short thing on the right hand side the specimen refrigerator? (sorry for all the questions, its just an unusual looking morgue.... )

Had you not said this was the Morgue Entrance, I feel I would have known it anyway... very "Morgue looking" door.....

yeah, I agree with you Max, too bad its not in a museum. I could be wrong, but it almost looks like it folds out for reclining or laying down (?)
