Ack. What a perspective lol! That is one hiiiiiiigh place. :D
I wouldn't be able to resist thumping one of those bells either lol. My hubby used to work for our church, and part of his job was to ring the bell for services, funerals, weddings, etc. and I remember tugging on that bell rope to ring it and being almost lifted off my feet (I am tiny at only 5'0" lol) by the sheer weight of it! What an exhilarating feeling it was though to hear that bell ring...and how LOUD it was too!

Did you see any bats up there? Sorry...silly question I know. :D
YAY! New wallpaper for my desktop! :)

This is just...gorgeous. Words do not do it any justice. Beauty as this defies the human language altogether.

That's all I have to say lol.
I agree A D Nilsen. It makes me feel so sad for some reason, as if there is so much hope and love that was housed here, and now, it is just forgotten and abandoned and left to die in its own sad rubble. :( Sad picture.

It is funny how Motts' pictures stir up such strong feelings in all of us, isn't it?
I don't know why, but this pic made me smile. I am not even close to "religious" (though I do have faith and I am a Lutheran) but something about this picture just conjured up many Christmas plays I had been in when I was a child and many Christmases where I still believed in Santa Claus...going to church on Easter and waiting for the Easter Bunny as a child. MANY MANY good memories come up! :)

As I said, it made me smile and made me feel so peaceful too.
Yeah, ferdy! That was what I thought too! It seems sort of contridictory, but that light makes it look hellish almost, and it is a place of worship. NICE contrast there! :)
I concur with the rest. Wallpaper please! The stained glass IS lovely! How high do you think that ceiling goes?
I love the door inside a door look of this. :D What a beautiful shot with the golden light and then the shadowy nooks and crannies. :)
Well PARDON ME with these technical terms here. :D You do learn something every day don't you?

I bet this church was beyond gorgeous in its day. :)
If you use the trick of zooming in on your PC, you can see it definitely is Jesus...

How gorgeous the lighting is. It looks like the ceiling is on fire!
It almost looks...Heavenly doesn't it? As for the stained glass windows being unbroken...I know personally I wouldn't want to break a church's window simply for the fear of what might happen to me as in karma. :D

This is simply fab.
Wow. Now when did you sneak THIS fantastic gallary in?? I just checked this afternoon and there was nothing new yet. Sneaky little booger. :D

Anyhow, this is gorgeous! Makes me wanna go to church...NOT. :D
Ooooh lovely! What an old theater! There is something very majestic and yet a little spooky about places like these...you wonder how many souls are still hanging around here, still playing their parts in a play long ended...

Sorry...too much Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State lately. :D Great pics Mr. Motts! I was starting to get serious withdrawals here! I was going back to this site every day at least 3 times a day to see if anything new was added. Our 12 year old called me a "junkie" lol. :) I think I will live with that. :D
That is sad Autoguy.
@Vanessa--oh my goodness...alligators?? I think I would go insane. I sure feel for these people...not even welcome back at home now. I am glad some have a better situaltion than they did, and I hope the rest can find peace.
Ephemera: Desire
I love those light trails! It makes it look like falling stars, adding to the mystique of the place.

Very nice!
