A water pipe from the wall extends above the trough, and a drain pipe comes down on the far end. Could have been used to wash numerous things. Soldiers, vegetables, body parts, underwear, brains, etc..

Cantilevered masonry steps with an iron stringer capping the ends? I see no attachment points for railings. Isn't that just the damnedest thing?
