Yes, that structural glazed block is super tough stuff. Permanent ceramic wall finish combined into in a load bearing application. Lots of it was used everywhere in schools, hospitals, locker/shower room areas, absolutely. It's still available but may be passed by to reduce costs these days.

Look close, there's a spot where the shower head pipe came out. Three knobs also, the center one diverts the flow up and down.

If that was the old school pulled plaster, that stuff is a lot of work. Beautiful stuff, covered up to modernize with some "remudeling".
