Maison Kirsch History

The home of the Kirsch family in Luxembourg is an amazing portal into the past, with an incredible amount of vintage effects seemingly left untouched for decades. The rear of the house consists of stables and cellars for fruit preservation, perhaps to make schnapps (the word kirsch is German for cherry brandy, and is both the family's last name as well as my own, by coincidence), while the upper floors contained a number of bedrooms. Abandoned since as far back as the 1960s, this house has been left to rot with most of the family's personal belongings left behind, most still neatly tucked away inside cabinets and closets. Although urban explorer photographers seem to arrange their own scenes inside by moving objects and furniture around, it is still a wonderful place to explore and photograph.
