The sky was a featureless gray when we arrived in Chicago, making it an exceptionally crappy day for shooting this plant. Although the facility was located in a marshy area next to a river, the climate felt hot and arid. Tall brown grasses and strips of insulation fluttered in an uncomfortably warm breeze. Things were pretty quiet until a pickup rolled onto the property while we started to explore the breaker and mixing buildings; they were most likely scrappers, but we made a cautious exit just to be on the safe side.
I'm not pleased with the quality of the photographs, but the site was still an interesting place to climb around and explore.
