My Grandad's football team used to play on the fields at St.Margarets. Apparently there were 100s of patients with downs syndrome sat in their audience.

I feel that you are very brave man to walk a very shaky stucture, Mr Motts. Has anybody else here explored St. Margarets?

For those who live in the West Midlands, I hope you've checked out the satellite view of this place on Google Local. Its absolutely massive! I was shocked.

I'm very disappointed in myself that this place has intrigued me for about a year and a half and I only get the guts to take a look at the place when there's barely anything left.

I pass the hospital to and from college. I tend to sit on the top deck of the bus to try and get a look in through the entrance. It looks like they haven't quite demolished it all yet. I'm seeing a lot of rubble and new houses at the moment.

For those of you who don't know, most of this place has been demolished now. Bovis Homes are buliding hundreds of houses and apartments, with a "Stunning lake view." Several houses have been burnt down in protest, but of course that won't stop them.

Now, what this image instantly reminded me of was the imagry captured by Freddie Francis in all those wonderful old Hammer films.
