I think this fireplace might have been utilized more for the burning of rubish than to provide warmth...
looks like the short ends of bricks, as opposed to the long sides of them.(?)
would love to have seen what the "chandeliers" looked like originally!
incredible!
I love the look of the curtains in this, especially in contrast with the textures of the rest of the room. I can almost see the curtains blowing in the light breeze coming through the open windows. Just beautiful!

"Pirates of the Hellingly Asylum Part 2: Sporadic Storms" - Motts even provided the perfect title. Looks like we have us a movie here! Motts is in charge of photography, Mr. Depp stars, I'll help with choreography and be Mr. Depp's 24-hour-a-day personal assistant, and everyone else can do whatever they please. It's a winner in MY book. ;-)

I just thought of something else. If that top part had a built-in reading light, it'd be a nice way to read in privacy. Your chair would also be a lamp! A positive version of an "electric chair"!

The best peeling paint I've ever seen! I couldn't figure out the chair, but now I think it's like blinders on a horse: you sit back and feel rather sheltered from the action/chaos around you. Your vision is limited, giving you a feeling of privacy. You're there in public, yet few people could actually see you. I like that idea!
