Motts, I'd like to see the rest of the place if you ever plan on going back. The breathing difficulties and discomfort might make for extremely interesting photos. I'd love to see if the discomfort shows in your photos.

I lived on Federal street, right around the corner from the school back in the late 80's and early 90's. A lot of the residents were moved into local apartment buildings when the school was closed. One of them lived across the hall from me and we became good friends. I often wonder what she is doing now..
